I love this thing and use it to swoop up any pins laying around on my cutting table, and have one by my machine to throw pins onto as I remove them before they pass through the stitch foot. This is especially important when you are quilting and want your seams to match up perfectly.

Grabbit! Magnetic Pin Holder Specifications

I am a bit of a "stickler" about pin and needle safety etiquette since seventh grade Home Ec when I sat on the floor and a sewing needle went into my leg. The doctors finally retrieved it after a little digging; but since that episode I try to account for each and every pin and needle that crosses my sewing table. I like to pull the pins out as I sew, just before the needle runs over them. With Grabbit® I can toss the pin in its general direction, and the magic of magnetic attraction sucks the needle into its orbit, before it has a chance to cause any trouble. When I am done with a project I simply wave the dish over any stragglers and they get scooped up. I actually have more than one- one for my sewing table, one for my long arm machine, and one right next to my Husquavarna.
